Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library joins other Lithuanian public libraries for a kind mission – printing protective equipment for medical professionals using a 3D printer.
After testing and improving different models ‘Robotikos mokykla‘ (eng. ‘Robotics School’) developed a simple and functional design of protective face shields in collaboration with Lithuanian engineers and medical professionals as well as consulting with doctorates from Hong Kong, Italy, Colombia and Serbia. The face shields are made of a sheet of transparent material and a frame that can be adjusted to the head of any size. The angle of inclination can also be changed. The shield is extremely light, making it more convenient to wear all day.
The production of such a protective face shield frame takes about 2 hours. With one 3D printer, the library is able to produce from 6 pieces per day. Our regional libraries are also contributing to this initiative.
