The library is implementing a new project: “Skill Laboratory: Strengthening the Competences of Panevezys City Youth”. The goal of the project is to find new ways of working with the youth, involve the local community, develop cooperation networks to improve the situation of young people that are struggling to meet the requirements of the labour market. The Virtual Graphics Studio welcomes young people to participate in various activities and lectures.
In Panevėžys, a great number of young people experience social exclusion, can’t find a way to implement themeselves in the society. Often the reason for this is not only the personality or upbringing of the person, but also a lack of competence or experience. The Skill Laboratory will create a safe space for young people to learn, to improve, to volunteer and to try on some professions. It is also expected that the involvement of local communities will develop new, more appealing job opportunities for young people.
This project should diminish social exclusion, empower young people to become active participants in the labour market. Successful integration of young people into the labour market should improve the economy and the public image of the city.
Project partners: Panevėžys Social Services Center, association “Panevėžio Rotaract klubas”, charity and support fund “Vilties arka”.
The project is funded by the European Social Fund.
